Shibden Mill Inn’s successful 2015 has continued, with yet another award.
Following hot on the footsteps of being named in the Top 10 pubs in Yorkshire, and Les Routiers Inn of the Year, Shibden Mill Inn collected the accolade for Best Freehouse for the Yorkshire, North East and Scotland region in the Great British Pub Awards 2015.
The Halifax pub is owned by Simon Heaton, who is also the chairman of The Great Inns of Britain, and beat off the challenge of numerous pubs in the region to claim the title.
The awards are organised by leading pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
Its editor Ed Bedington said:
“The award recognises freehouse pubs that have increased profits and driven new business in the past year.
The judges commended the owner on his passion and drive, despite owning the pub for 17 years Simon never rest on his laurel and is an incredibly driven and motivated licensee, always looking at ways to grow his business whilst the pub still remains as a hub of the community.”
The pub will now go forward to the Great British Pub Awards 2015 national final, held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday, September 10th.
It will go head to head with five other regional winners for the UK title ‘Best Freehouse 2015 and also have the opportunity to compete for the overall champions of champions title of ‘Great British Pub of the Year 2015.’
