Steampunk Weekend 28 – 30 July
Combining science fiction with 19th Century style, Whitby’s quirky Steampunk Weekend is back! From Shopping Fayres to cabaret performances, this jam-packed weekend has something for everyone to enjoy. On Friday, indulge in the ultimate Steampunk event with ‘Beyond the Sea’, a cabaret evening with guest performances from Montague Jacques Fromage and Dr. Atticus Oldman of The Absinthe Affair. Get a feel for the unorthodox adventures of the Steampunk subculture, with characterful jalopies, carriages and charabancs on-site, including the spectacular Steampunk VW for you to enjoy.
Whitby Regatta 18 – 21 August
Returning to the quaint seaside town each year, the Whitby Regatta has been a tradition for well over 100 years, bringing a weekend bursting with aquatic competition and entertainment. Regarded as one of the oldest sea Regatta’s in the Northeast Coast, the race sees large crowds of locals and visitor turning out year on year to spectate. With numerous yacht races, a grand parade and a firework display, this action pack weekend has captured the hearts of many.
Folk week 19 – 25 August
Seven days of rejoicing the traditional music, dance and song of the British Isles, the Whitby Folk Festival includes over 600 events in a variety of spots across the Whitby’s windswept coastline. With numerous workshops, live-music concerts and street entertainment to get involved with, there really is something to suit everyone.
