The Castle Hotel, Bishop’s Castle held a Garden Party on Sunday 2nd June to celebrate its 300th birthday – there was an awful lot of candles!
This characterful inn, with a reputation that spans as far back as 1719, hosted a Garden Party complete with traditional children’s party games and live music from The Voice contestant, Zoe Hedge, and The Jonny Keeley Band.
Hotel owner, Henry Hunter said: “This is such a momentous anniversary that we couldn’t let it go unmarked. It is an honour to own the hotel as it celebrates three centuries of trading and there really are few hotel owners who can say that!”
And given that Bishop’s Castle has one of the best reputations for real ale and beer in the country, it is very befitting that a specially commissioned ale was served, thanks to the fantastic local real ale brewery, The Three Tuns, to celebrate one of the oldest operating hotels in the country.
Owner, Henry Hunter, commissioned the local history society to complete a book cataloguing the Castle Hotel’s fascinating 300-year history for future generations to enjoy and the Bishop Castle Heritage Resource Centre hosted a stand at the Garden Party, so guests could explore the hotel’s past even further.
