One of our Great Inns, The Inn at Whitewell is located in Lancashire, close by to the bustling market town Clitheroe.

The Inn at Whitewell

The Inn at Whitewell is situated just by the Forest of Bowland. Once a small manor house, the earliest parts of the Inn date back to the 1300s, when it was home to Walter Urswick, the keeper of the King’s Forest of Bowland.

The Inn is surrounded by a seven-mile stretch of river and residents are welcome to fish for salmon, seatrout, and grayling according to the season. The surrounding countryside can also be explored on foot, bike or horseback with hampers and picnic lunches available for guests planning a day’s outing.

Golf is a common passion of the area and guests of the Inn at Whitewell receive a discounted price at Clitheroe Golf Club. The golf club is a beautiful 18-hole parkland golf course, suitable for all levels. Not to mention, Hole 5 is widely considered the best Par 3 in the North West!

Head Chef Jamie Cadman and his team serve up wholesome, delicious menus in the bar and dining room, using lots of seasonal and local produce. The bar serves a fabulous range of beers, wines and soft drinks, from very local cask ales to some of the world’s best organic bottled ciders and beers. The private dining room, The Orangery, situated on the river bank is just another offering to enjoy great food and views.
