If there wasn’t already enough reasons to enjoy The Wild Boar and its fantastic setting near gorgeous Lake Windermere, the Cumbrian inn now boasts a new head chef, Gordon Stewart.
Joining the inn’s culinary team after years of experience both at home and abroad, Glasgow-born Stewart began his career as a commis chef with Gordon Ramsay Amaryllis in Glasgow.
Since then, he has previously held roles at a variety of esteemed venues including Thurnham Hall in Lancaster and Tony’s in faraway Auckland, New Zealand.
Also representing distinguished restaurants and hospitality groups in Melbourne and San Marino, not to mention closer to home in Ayrshire and his hometown of Glasgow, Stewart arrives at The Wild Boar after a spell as interim head chef for leading UK chef agency, CJUK.
Delighted to join the Lake District property, Stewart said: “I’m passionate about the provision of great food, using fresh local produce and designing creative, innovative dishes.
“I strive to surprise and delight those I cook for with every meal. I am also committed to supporting our junior chefs and the wider team and helping develop their own skills and careers.”
Drawing visitors from far and wide, The Wild Boar’s AA Rosette Smokehouse & Grill Restaurant treats guests to lunch, dinner and all day menus.
You’ll be sure to receive a warm welcome and delicious food with the inn previously winning Cumbria’s Pub of the Year in 2014 and finishing runner-up in Visit England’s 2015 Pub of the Year.
