Stone Skimming in the Lake District

The All England Stone Skimming Championship returns to Fell Foot

We are all guilty of spending a little too long searching for the perfect pebble, before hurdling it across the water in an attempt to make it bounce more than once. In fact, is a walk in the Lake District really complete without a spot of stone skimming? Most likely not.

Returning to Fell Foot in Cumbria, the annual All England Stone Skimming Championship will take place on Saturday 19 August between 11am and 4pm. Recognised within the sporting world; men, women, mixed teams and children (under 11s and 11s to 16s) can all enter the competition in hope of winning an official English sporting title.

Soak up the bustling atmosphere as spectators draw from near and far to watch this wonderful and unique event; and with an array of outdoor activities to get involved in and bespoke stalls to visit, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Admired for its spectacular surroundings, stunning lakeshore and blossoming meadows; Fell Foot sits on the southern tip of Lake Windermere and offers unrivalled views across the water and the breath-taking mountains above.
