The Great Inns of Britain would like to say congratulations to both The Peacock at Rowsley and The Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk who have been listed in Country Life’s 10 best dog-friendly country hotels feature.
Officially the start of summer today, guests looking for an indulgent summer break needn’t leave their four-legged friends at home with both of these inns now recognised for their excellence when it comes to canines.
Based in beautiful rural Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District, the 17th century Peacock at Rowsley invites dogs to stay with their owners in their room should they wish. What’s more, they’ll receive dog treats and a water bowl as well as a biscuit!
As for The Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk, the Country Durham-based inn is popular with dog walkers given the many stunning walking routes of the North Pennines that are based on the doorstep of this privately owned property.
This inn allows dogs to stay in 12 of the 14 rooms on site with dog beds, water bowls and locally-made dog treats provided too. Dog food is also available on request for an additional charge.
